POTTING:

Use a potting medium that gives excellent drainage (orchid bark). For blooming size plants, medium size fir bark is right. To maintain good drainage, repot in fresh medium about every 1-2 years. If possible, repot in the spring months, and when in doubt about root health, repot. Assure root system is healthy if not repot emmediatly.

WATERING:
Water when the potting medium is nearly dry. Timing can be best determined by lifting the pot: nearly dry, it will seem quite light when water is needed. In general, these types of orchids will require water every 3-5 days in the spring/summer, and 5-7 days in fall/winter, depending on weather. When you water be generous, allowing water to flow freely through potting media. Water early morning, so leaves will dry by night to prevent disease.

FERTILIZING:
It is recommend the usage of Growmore fertilizer 20-10-20 (urea free) at half strength dilution at every watering, year-round. This type of fertilizer works well all year round.

LIGHT & LOCATION:

In the greenhouse, provide bright location and check leaf color as the plant grows: medium green indicates correct lighting. Yellow or burned foliage indicates too much light. Leaf temperature is a good indicator-if warm to the touch (leaf must start to get hotter), reduce light. Minimum night temperature may go down to 55 degrees F. Daytime temperatures can go up to 90 degrees, as long as adequate humidity (40-50%) and good air movement is provided. Remember, air movement is changing the air, not just having old air rotate. Open a window if you need to.
